Output transformers

Output transformers were the first products Muse Coils began production of. An output transformer couples the high impedance signal of the tube power stage to the low-impedance input of your speakers. At Muse Coils, the first years of RnD were concentrated on the study and analysis of the complex electrical behavior of audio transformers in their full frequency spectrum. Later, I began working on their acoustical properties, bringing a fusion of the best of electrical performance and musical reproduction.

The internals of MinotauR series output transformers consist of carefully wound, tight windings, additionally inspected, and packed by hand. Between each winding layer lies a dampening layer of in-house waxed paper. The core is HiB with a proprietary modification. Interleaving is complex, which is an opening for the best possible distribution of parasitic components, giving us the best high-frequency headroom possible to permit additional winding turns; hence more primary inductance and copper mass. A variety of five different types of dielectrics are carefully distributed to contribute for the best electrical and acoustical properties. The result is a a fusion of energy, smoothness and soundstage immersion into the midrange. The mounting elements, all playing a part in the sound reproduction, are made from carefully selected Brazilian hardwood, linked together with brass-alloy rods. Output terminals are not left neglected either, being modified with a mixture of annealed silver and African hardwood.

At Muse Coils we currently offer Single-ended stage multi-impedance primary output transformers with a Williamson-style secondary, capable of at least two (4R and 9R) secondary impedances. Custom requests for additional secondary impedances are available as well.
